Glenn's Merc won the top platinum award at the Classic Pismo Beach Car Show on June 2, 2019.
The Platinum Award is the top of the “Gold Class”. According to the Pismo Beach Car Show website, this award is given to the car that is the top of the food chain when it comes to the event. Each year 20 Gold Class cars are chosen that stand out from the rest.

The September issue of Street Rodder will feature the story “Hot Rods of the Future” profiling eight in-progress bare metal vehicles. The Fairway '55 will be on the cover and will be one of these featured vehicles.

Team Ironworks in the 1900 class finishes their 3rd Best in the Desert race at the Silver State 300 in the eastern Nevada desert.
We have completed every mile of every race with no more than 1 flat tire and one drive belt change.

April 2013 - Goodguys Del Mar
Andy and Mary Houghtelin received another Builders Choice Award from Charley Hutton for their 1960 Ford truck at the 13th Meguiar's Del Mar Nationals. Frank and Mary Lawrence also received another Builders Choice Award at this same show for their 1948 Chevy truck. Congratulations to the family!

Andy and Mary Houghtelin are the proud owners of this 1960 Ford truck. The truck received a Builders Choice Award at the 2nd Annual Fall Del Mar Nationals. Congratulations to Andy & Mary!
November 2012 - Goodguys Scottsdale
This was a big weekend for Frank and Mary. Not only were they honored with the 'Truck of the Year-Early" Award but they officially took possession of their '48 Chevy at the Goodguys 15th Annual Southwest Nationals, November 16-18 at Westworld in Scottsdale, Arizona. May they enjoy their '48 Chevy for many years to come.
Goodguys 2012 Street Rod Headquarters Truck of the Year-Early Winner
Frank & Mary Lawrence’s ’48 Chevy pickup has been named Goodguys 2012 Street Rod Headquarters Truck of the Year-Early. After making its debut at the 2011 SEMA Show – the flawless pickup was chosen as a finalist for the Truck of the Year award at the Goodguys Fall Del Mar Nationals last year. The award is designed to honor an outstanding pre’-’53 tricked out truck.
The chopped top, lengthened doors and section body are just a few of the 80 body mods on the ’48 Chevy from Bakersfield, California. It sits on a custom chassis by Ironworks Speed & Kustom featuring Wilwood brakes and Schott wheels. Power is courtesy of a hard charging 376ci LSX with a Magnuson supercharger. Ironworks handled the entire build for the Lawrence’s under the watchful eye of Rodger Lee.
The color, a cinnamon/sun kissed hue is called “naughty spice.”
Look for the Lawrence’s truck inside the “Champion’s Arena” sponsored by Street Rod Headquarters at the Goodguys 15th annual Southwest Nationals, November 16-18 at Westworld in Scottsdale, Arizona.

August 2012 - Goodguys Pleasanton
Frank and Mary's 1948 Chevrolet truck received more hardware at the August Pleasanton Show. What an honor that "Naughty Spice" received it's 2nd Builders Choice award this year. The weekend consisted of beautiful fairgrounds, beautiful weather and quite simply ... a beautiful truck. Congratulations to Frank and Mary!
July 2012 - Goodguys Columbus
Frank and Mary's 1948 Chevrolet truck continues to gather hardware at all of the shows it goes to. In November 2011 at Del Mar we qualified for the 2012 Goodguys Truck of the Year - Early award. We then went on to pick up 4 awards at the Grand National Roadster show in Pomona in January. In April 2012 we received a Pro's Pick award from the NSRA Bakersfield show and then in July this summer we received a Builders Choice Award at the Big Columbus Goodguys Event.
